NEW

Treptow, Rev. Earle D. Sanctification: Set Apart by God's Grace to Serve
This was the keynote essay at the 2007 WELS Convention in New Ulm (July0-Aug, 2007). Pastor Treptow, who currently serves Zion Luthern Church in Denver, CO, writes in a manner that breathes the spirit of the Gospel and skillfully places Christian life and service into an appropriate context. Essays

Braun, Rev. John. The Gospel-Centered Sermon: Power for God's People
Written by the current editor of Forward in Christ and past president/professor at Northwestern College, this work addresses itself to both message and method in Lutheran preaching, reminding readers of what is always the most timely way to proclaim God's timeless Gospel.

Deutschlander, Rev. Daniel. Hold On to the Narrow Lutheran Middle
This essay by the former MLC professor is exactly what one would expect from this source. With sound scholarship and pithy commentary, Prof. Deutchlander addresses the issue of how to strike the proper balance between preserving and proclaiming God's truth -- with special application to ministerial education.

Koeplin, Rev. Kurt. Reflections, Questions & Concerns About Our Beloved WELS (1992)
Though this "open letter" was penned 15 years ago, it offers many points still worth pondering. As you contemplate the state of our synod today, you may be amazed at how prophetic were some of the observations of this gifted child of God and loyal son of the WELS.
