The IIW Steering Committee extends an invitation to you to join
us for our Issues in WELS (IIW) Forum
on Monday, August 11, 2008
at St. John's
Ev. Lutheran Church (Oakwood Road & 27th
Street), Oak Creek, WI.
Our Forum will be from 9:00 AM to 5:00
PM. A noon meal will be provided by the ladies of
St. John's and an evening fellowship meal will be provided following
the close of our session.
ESSAY: Pastor Aaron Frey of Tawas
City, MI, will present an essay entitled Tendrils
of the Church Growth Movement. This paper was
prepared by a four-man study committee from the Michigan District
and was presented at this summer's Michigan District Convention.
Pastor Robert Koester is preparing discussion questions
that will help to stimulate the discussion of this paper.
DISCUSSION:
We
will also set aside time to consider the preliminary Ad
Hoc Committee Report.
Discussion leaders will take us through the highlights of each
section. Please bring along your copy of this report
if you have one. A copy can be obtained on the Synod website
www.wels.net/jump/rttd
RECOMMENDATION: The Steering Committee
will also be presenting a recommendation
regarding the future of IIW for your consideration.
DIRECTIONS: You can reach St. John's,
Oak Creek by exiting I-94 at Ryan Road from either direction.
Head west approximately one mile to 27th Street and then south
(left) on 27th street for a mile to Oakwood. The church is on
the corner of 27th and Oakwood. If you are in need of a motel,
there are numerous ones in the area of the airport and at 13th
and Rawson (Rawson exit off I-94 is one mile north of Ryan Rd.
exit).
